Derek Lemke Lands Late Deal for Charlotte NASCAR Return
Derek Lemke, husband of popular NASCAR driver Natalie Decker, has secured a last-minute seat for this weekend’s races at Charlotte Motor Speedway, extending his part-time campaign across NASCAR's national series.
CONCORD, N.C. — In a last-minute addition to the weekend grid at Charlotte Motor Speedway, Derek Lemke has officially secured a late driving agreement to compete during this weekend's NASCAR events in North Carolina.
Lemke, a veteran short-track racer and husband of NASCAR driver Natalie Decker, confirmed the deal following final roster entries ahead of Friday practice sessions. The Minnesota native has made select appearances across NASCAR's national ladder over recent seasons, building a versatile resume across both the Craftsman Truck Series and O'Reilly Auto Parts Series.
The opportunity comes as teams finalize their driver lineups for the crucial playoff-adjacent rounds at Charlotte, where track time and clean execution are paramount.
"Every opportunity to get behind the wheel at this level is huge," Lemke noted following the announcement. "To get everything locked in right before practice at a track like Charlotte means a lot."
With track activity already under way, Lemke's late entry adds an intriguing storyline to a busy paddock weekend focused on playoff intensity and trackside tributes.
