Max Verstappen Conquers Marina Bay to Claim First Career Singapore Grand Prix Victory
Red Bull Racing's Max Verstappen put on a masterclass performance under the floodlights to hold off Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc, securing his maiden victory at the Singapore Grand Prix and validating Red Bull’s recent aerodynamic upgrades.
SINGAPORE — Max Verstappen finally conquered one of the few remaining frontiers on the Formula 1 calendar on Sunday night, driving a clinical lights-to-flag race to win the Singapore Grand Prix at the Marina Bay Street Circuit.
Starting from pole position, the three-time World Champion launched cleanly off the line to defend his lead into Turn 1 against Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc. Despite persistent pressure from Leclerc throughout the 62-lap night race, Verstappen managed tire degradation flawlessly on the punishing street layout to cross the finish line 7.3 seconds ahead of the Monegasque driver.
The triumph marks Verstappen’s first career victory at Marina Bay, erasing a lingering venue hoodoo that had previously seen the high-downforce circuit stand as a rare stubbing block for Red Bull Racing.
"It feels amazing to finally win here in Singapore," Verstappen remarked during post-race podium interviews. "We've had some challenging weekends on this track in the past, but the car felt balanced all weekend. The high-downforce upgrades we brought here delivered exactly what we needed."
With Mercedes rookie Kimi Antonelli completing the podium in third, Verstappen's Singapore breakthrough provides a massive momentum boost for Red Bull Racing as the 2026 World Championship campaign heads into its final overseas stretch.
