Red Bull Locks Down Laurent Mekies with Multi-Year Contract Extension Through 2031
Formula 1 powerhouse Red Bull Racing has officially confirmed a major long-term commitment to team principal Laurent Mekies, extending his tenure at the helm through the 2031 season.
In a major statement of executive stability, Red Bull Racing has officially confirmed that CEO and Team Principal Laurent Mekies has signed a long-term contract extension to remain at the helm of the Austrian organization through the 2031 Formula 1 season.
The announcement locks down one of the paddock's most influential leadership figures as the sport enters its crucial next-generation technical era.
Mekies, 49, originally joined the Red Bull umbrella in 2024 to lead Visa Cash App RB before transitioning into top leadership at Milton Keynes. Under his direction, Red Bull has navigated severe regulatory shifts and intense championship pressure, maintaining its position at the absolute pinnacle of motorsport engineering and operational execution.
"I am deeply honored by the continued trust placed in me by Mark Mateschitz and the entire Red Bull family," Mekies said in an official statement. "We are in the middle of an incredible era of transition, and locking down our long-term roadmap allows us to focus entirely on performance, technical innovation, and defending our championship culture."
Red Bull shareholder Mark Mateschitz emphasized that Mekies’ strategic vision and deep engineering background—including prior senior stints at Ferrari and the FIA—were pivotal in securing the six-year commitment.
With Mekies secured through 2031, Red Bull establishes an unprecedented foundation of leadership continuity, signaling to partners, engine developers, and rival constructors that the team’s championship blueprint remains firmly in place.
