Max Verstappen Controls Chaotic Grand Prix as Kimi Antonelli Holds Off Lewis Hamilton for Second
Max Verstappen executed a flawless drive to secure victory, while Mercedes prodigy Kimi Antonelli resisted relentless late pressure from Lewis Hamilton to claim second place.
Max Verstappen delivered a masterclass in high-pressure execution, leading from pole to secure a commanding victory, while Mercedes young sensation Kimi Antonelli held off a fierce late-race attack from Lewis Hamilton to take second place.
Verstappen controlled the pace from the opening lap, expertly managing tire degradation and navigating multiple virtual safety car restarts to maintain a comfortable gap over the chasing pack.
Behind the champion, the real drama unfolded in the closing laps as Antonelli demonstrated remarkable composure. The Mercedes rookie, driving with a maturity far beyond his years, defended against a fast-closing Hamilton in the Ferrari. Despite Hamilton closing within DRS range during the final five laps, Antonelli hit every apex cleanly and placed his car flawlessly to secure his career-best second-place finish.
Hamilton settled for third to complete the podium, giving Ferrari valuable points in the constructors' standings, while teammate Charles Leclerc followed in fourth.
"Max was untouchable today, but holding off Lewis at the end was the toughest stint of my career," Antonelli said during post-race podium interviews. "I could see him getting closer in my mirrors every lap, so I just focused on execution and clean exits."
Verstappen's win further consolidates his momentum down the final stretch of the season, while Antonelli's breakout drive reinforces his status as a cornerstone driver for Mercedes' present and future.
